Who is He?

Mr. Hussein Khoshnow is a prominent leading figure in the Australian community of Kurdish-Iraqi origin. In his unique career, he combines over three decades of media experience with an ambitious economic vision, making him the ideal founder and current president of the Australian-Kurdistani Business Council.

His Illustrious Career:

  • A Fighter for the Kurdish Cause: Mr. Khoshnow’s journey began in the heart of Kurdistan, where he was raised in Shaqlawa and Erbil. At a young age, he was arrested and tortured for his Kurdish identity, and he also served in the ranks of the Peshmerga, carrying the cause of his people in his conscience.
  • A Media Pioneer in the Diaspora: After emigrating to Australia in 1995, he dedicated himself to serving the community. In 1996, he founded the first Kurdish newspaper in Australian history, named “Al-Kurd” (The Kurd) , followed by the first Kurdish radio station in South Australia, “Dengi Kurd” (The Voice of Kurd) . In 2003, he founded “Al-Furat” (The Euphrates) Newspaper in Sydney, which became Australia’s first national Arabic newspaper, published in three languages (Arabic, Kurdish, and English) with the aim of building bridges of communication and supporting the integration of new immigrants.
  • An Influential Voice: Mr. Khoshnow continued his journalistic career as a writer and publisher. His writings, articles, and activities are featured in most Australian and Kurdish newspapers, as well as in visual, audio, and print media, where he follows up on the issues of the Kurdish people and analyzes political events with a critical and insightful vision, defending rights and freedoms.
  • An Active Community Figure: His role was not limited to media but extended to defending community issues, where he brought sensitive files related to national security to the attention of Australian authorities, demonstrating a deep commitment to his new homeland, Australia.
